Pomona, CA — October 15, 2025 — Effective November 1st, 2025, the Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A. (IVHS) will assume operations of the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society (SGVHS). This partnership is founded on 175 years of animal welfare experience and enables IVHS to extend its high-quality programs and services to a broader community in the San Gabriel Valley. Together, IVHS and SGVHS are providing greater support for pet adoptions, veterinary care and community education initiatives.
“We’ve prepared for this transition for several months and are excited to welcome the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society into our family,” said IVHS President and CEO Nikole Bresciani. “As we merge our organizations, we are leveraging our resources, increasing access to services and expanding exceptional quality of care for our communities.”
Both shelters will continue operating as usual until the acquisition is finalized on November 1, 2025. Once complete, IVHS will assume operations at the SGVHS facility, working alongside existing staff and volunteers. The San Gabriel Valley will benefit from additional programs, access to IVHS’s advanced medical center and enhanced outreach initiatives.
“This merger represents unity and legacy,” said SGVHS President Cindy Rigney. “Our organizations have been committed to animal care in our communities for decades and together, we are building upon our foundation and making a greater impact for families and animals across the region.”
The IVHS Board will continue to do business as IVHS & SGVHS, as each carries recognition, history and trust valued deeply across their communities. Under a unified structure, services will be stronger while still honoring the identities residents know and respect. Additionally, IVHS will be incorporating SGVHS’ website into theirs and improvements to the SGVHS facility are expected to begin Winter 2025/2026. No immediate impact to services at either location are anticipated at this time.
“This acquisition is a blending of two organizations with one mission,” said Carl Lepper, Chairman of IVHS’ Board of Directors. “We are looking forward to furthering that mission, together, as we provide animals across the Valley with the utmost care and quality of life.”
