Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA Announces Conclusion of 30+ Year Partnership with Ontario and Chino

Pomona, CA—The Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA (IVHS) concludes 30-years of partnership with the cities of Ontario and Chino effective July 1, 2025. The cities will be transitioning to managing their own animal welfare services through a new joint powers authority dedicated to serving their communities.

Over the past three decades, IVHS has provided comprehensive animal care and control services to Ontario and Chino, implementing proactive measures that have successfully reduced the number of animals entering the shelter. Through spay and neuter programs, community education, and outreach initiatives, IVHS created a foundation for sustainable animal welfare in the region.

“We are thankful for the opportunity to service the communities of Ontario and Chino and the thousands of animals we have rescued, nourished to health and provided critical veterinary care to. Our partnerships have reduced shelter intakes from the area and improved animal welfare,” said Nikole Bresciani, President and CEO of IVHS. “Ten years ago, IVHS launched the Getting to Zero initiative, which meant no adoptable, healthy pet would be euthanized. We continue that practice today.”

Bresciani stated, “With shelters across California operating at capacity and our strong commitment to animal welfare, we are eager to see more regional solutions come together to support pets and pet owners. By joining this effort, we can build on our progress and continue making a positive impact in our communities.”

IVHS remains committed to its mission of compassion and care for animals and will continue to serve its surrounding city partners with the same dedication and expertise that has defined its work for over 75 years. As Ontario and Chino move forward with their new initiative, IVHS extends its best wishes for their success in this endeavor.
