Pomona, CA — June 1, 2026 — Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A. (IVHS) is proud to announce that it will begin providing animal care and control services for the City of Azusa effective July 1, 2026. These services will transition from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control.
Through this new partnership, IVHS will provide comprehensive animal services for the Azusa community, including:
- Animal control and field services
- Stray animal response and public safety support
- Animal cruelty investigations and enforcement
- Shelter and care services for lost, stray, and homeless animals
- Pet reunification and adoption services
Animals from Azusa will be cared for at IVHS’ main shelter campus in Pomona, where residents will also have access to a variety of community programs and resources.

Founded more than 75 years ago, IVHS is a private, non-profit humane society that provides full-service animal care and control, sheltering, veterinary services, adoptions, humane education, and community outreach programs throughout the San Gabriel Valley.
In addition to animal control services, Azusa residents will have access to:
- Low-cost veterinary services through IVHS’ Alex and Elisabeth Lewyt Medical Center
- Monthly low-cost vaccine and microchip clinics
- Pet licensing services through DocuPet
- Pet food assistance through IVHS’ Kibble Cupboard program
- Adoption and foster opportunities
IVHS and the City of Azusa are working closely together to ensure a smooth transition of services with no interruption to essential animal care and public safety operations.
